Obituary of MSgt. James E. Lyle (USAF Ret.)
MSgt. James "Jim" Edward Lyle (USAF Ret.) went to be with his Lord and Savior, February 13, 2024. A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM with military honors at Parkway Memorial Gardens, 720 Carl Vinson Parkway, Warner Robins, GA 31093. A visitation will be held at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM. The family asks all attenders to dress casually.
Jim was born on October 28, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Lily Oliver. In addition to his mother, Jim is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Roslyn "Joy" Thomas Lyle. Jim devoted his life to serving his community, family, and the Lord. Jim joined the United States Air Force in 1959 until retiring as a Master Sargent in 1980. After his military service, he went on to work and retire as a civil servant from Robins Air Force Base. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed rebuilding planes, race cars, and hot rods. He was a member of the H.A.M.B. a message board for Hot Rod enthusiasts. Jim described himself as "just an old man who loves God, Family, and Racing."
Jim is survived by his cherished children; Rose Cline of Warner Robins, Susan Lyle Hill (David) of Alaska, Robert Lyle of Macon, Bridgette Lyle of South Carolina, and Barbra Lyle Oswald (Paul) of Smyrna; step children: Tina Horton of Perry and Denny Horton of Warner Robins; seven grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandsons.
