James Lynn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Angeleno Mortuary - Van Nuys on Dec. 27, 2025.
James "Jim" Walter Lynn, a longtime resident of the San Fernando Valley, passed away after a long illness on November 17, 2025. Born on September 25, 1952, he was the youngest son of Leonard Lynn (1919-1998) and Margaret Lynn, née Sullivan (1921-2000). He was raised in Pacoima along with his elder brothers, Larry and Steve. He attended Beachy Street Elementary School, Pacoima Junior High School, and graduated from San Fernando High School in 1970. After starting work as a janitor and later plant manager in the Los Angeles Unified School District, he eventually became a building engineer for several LAUSD schools. From 1979 to 1988 he was married to Annaliza Meza and together they had three children: Stephanie Maria, Mark James, and Peter Lawrence. He retired in 2007 and went to live in the town of Springville, Tulare County, along the southwestern Sierras. He loved his home there and enjoyed volunteering at the local historical society as well as with the local Lions Club. Age and health issues prompted him to sell his beloved Springville home in 2017, and he returned to his roots in the San Fernando Valley and spent the last few years of his life in Mission Hills. One of Jim's proudest achievements was his work with AA and his own sobriety, which he proudly maintained for 30 years. He passed away at Kaiser Permanente in Panorama City with his children at his side. His children plan to spread his ashes near Springville, where he spent some of the happiest years of his life.
Jim is survived by his three children: Stephanie Whitehead, née Lynn, of San Tan Valley, AZ; Mark Lynn of Valencia, CA; and Peter Lynn (Jasmine) of Houston, TX; his four grandchildren: Sophia Danielle, Colin Mahoney, Sebastian Kyle, and Santiago Emiliano; his two brothers, Larry Lynn (Midge) of Dallas, TX, and Steve Lynn of Highland Park, CA; along with one niece, Kelly; one grandnephew, Easton; several cousins and many more close and loyal friends.
