James Mac Collison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home East on Dec. 22, 2025.
Reverend James "Jim" Mac Collison, 79, went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2025. He was born in Greene County, Missouri, on March 10, 1946, to Harry and Virginia Dean "Doby" Collison.

A devoted pastor, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Jim lived a life marked by service, faith, and generosity. He was a faithful member of Solid Rock Cowboy Church in Grovespring. Throughout his life, Jim served his community in many roles, including Sheriff's Deputy in Laclede County, Medical First Responder, electrician, plumber, and custodian. He was also dually retired from Gospel Publishing House and Positronic Industries. Jim was an active member of the Grovespring Lion's Club and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.

On July 25, 1964, Jim married the love of his life, Lorena Mae Darrow. Together, they spent decades in dedicated ministry and service to the Kingdom. Jim's ministerial legacy includes being a founding pastor of a church in the Phillipsburg area and pastoring Mt. Sinai Assembly of God in Rogersville, Missouri, for 13 years.

Outside the pulpit, Jim was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting, fishing, and pursuing his lifelong passion for collecting firearms.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorena Mae Collison; his father, Harry Collison, and stepmother, Georgia; his mother, Virginia Mincks, and stepfather, Ervine Mincks; and his sisters, Betty J. Wixon and Barbara Rust.

He is survived by his two children: his son, J.D. Collison and wife Angelia of Grovespring; and his daughter, Renae Weddle and husband Charlie of Lebanon. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tyler Collison and wife Kaelin of Marshfield, Kaden Collison of Grovespring, and Madison Weddle and significant other Cordell Snow of Richland; as well as his great-granddaughters, Layna and Lily Collison, and honorary great-grandson, Klein Snow.

Jim's memory will also be cherished by his brothers, Paul Collison; Val Collison and wife Janice; and Keith Collison and wife Theresa; his sister, Dianne Mingus; and a host of nieces, nephews, and treasured friends.
