Publish in a newspaper

James A. Mack, Sr. was born August 27, 1949, to the late Jimmie Mack, Jr. and Ruth Davis Taylor. James dedicated his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Joe Carter at the St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church.

He attended the Bridgeton Public Schools, and at a young aged developed an interest in the mortuary profession. He was mentored for many years by Mr. Monroe (Money) Wesley of Wesley's Funeral Home in Bridgeton, New Jersey.

In 1968, James left high school early to enlist in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably as a Military Police Officer during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he returned to New Jersey and continued his passion for the funeral service, working at Wesley's Funeral Home and later at the Edwards and Son Funeral Home in Bridgeton.

James also received his license as a truck driver and was employed by Broadway Trucking until a work injury led to his early retirement. He enjoyed cooking and was phenomenal on the backyard barbeque grill. He also had a love for fishing, riding motorcycles, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two daughters, Pamela Clark and Arlene Cook; one son, Roderick L. Mack; one grandson, Roderick L. Goodwin; two granddaughter's, Brooke Bard and Quantasia Bessix; two sisters, Ernestine Hudson and Janette Robinson; and one brother, Lawrence J. Mack.

He leaves to cherish his memory five sons, Rodney Pace (Angela) of Vineland, NJ, James A. Mack, Jr. (Eunice) of Bridgeton, NJ, Tim T. Mack (Sharon) of Tampa, FL, Paul Mack, Sr. of Millville, NJ, and James A. Pace of San Diego, CA; one daughter, Jimesha Alexander (Joseph Sr.) of Pitman, NJ. Thirty-six grandchildren, fifty-seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Gail Elaine Frazier, of Bridgeton, NJ; two brothers, Talbert Cousins of Trenton, NJ and Rev. Dr. Lester W. Taylor, Jr. (Gayle) of Englewood, NJ; one godbrother, Julius Heigh of Trenton, NJ; a loving and devoted niece, Davina Strickland, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a strong circle of friends.

James' life was punctuated with highs and lows, successes and failures, victories and challenges, and yet, he was a man of faith and service, and he was devoted to his family. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
