James B. MacManus, 77, of Matunuck passed away on January 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John MacManus and Alice (Jordan) MacManus. James was the loving husband of Jane (Carmody) MacManus, whom he shared 54 wonderful years with.
James was a proud Vietnam veteran and a retired Providence Firefighter. He loved Matunuck and was a summer resident at Roy Carpenter's beach for many years.
Besides his wife, he leaves behind his children, James MacManus, Ian MacManus, Matthew MacManus, and Conor MacManus; as well as 7 grandchildren.
James also leaves behind his siblings, Margaret Hayes, Noreen Bonanno, and Kevin MacManus.
He was predeceased by his sister, Michaela Keough and his brother, Jack MacManus.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11AM at St. Romualds Chapel, 61 Atlantic Ave, Matunuck, RI. Visitation will be held from 4PM to 7PM on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Avery Storti Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
