Think of Mr Malerich all the time when competing in athletics or just remembering Howe Military School and my formative years there from 1974-1982.
Him, Mr Zielinski and Mr Kirby were so important in my development and I am forever indebted to these fantastic people. Rest In Peace and hope to see y´all in heaven. Amen.

Richard and Marcia Zielinski
March 6, 2023
Jim Malerich was a friend for approximately sixty years. I was fortunate to grow up with him and his family in Lincoln, Illinois. His brother, Greg, and I served in the Army together and remain great friends to this day. In 1974, Jim was instrumental in bringing me to Howe Military School to teach English which began a great 8 year teaching experience. He was a mentor and great friend for all those years mentioned. Even after our leaving Howe in 1981, we kept in touch via phone at least once a month. Marcia and I will miss Jim a great deal, but will always have our fond memories.

Mr James Malerich was my middle school and junior high principal. He was vital and an integral part of my growth and development as a young man. I´ll never forget him. I loved him and respected him as a mentor, Coach, educator and friend. Him, Lloyd Kirby, Mr Zielinski, Scott Warren, Dennis Redden, Jeanne Scropos, Lois Kelly are all priceless educators. Life is moving fast now as our life forming educators and friends are passing on to a better place. God rest Jim Malerich`s soul. He deserves the best in Heaven. Amen.
