James J. Manley, 80, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, at Sun City Hospice in Florida.
Born on May 27, 1945, in Branford, Connecticut, James built a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family. He raised his children in Madison, CT, before moving to Riverview, FL, to be closer to those he cherished most.
A 1968 graduate of the University of New Haven, James earned a degree in business and went on to work in the door and hardware industry for more than 40 years. His career took him across the country, but no matter where he was, his heart was always with his family.
James had a gift for humor and a love for life's simple pleasures - sharing a good meal, raising a glass with loved ones, and watching his favorite sports teams: the Dallas Cowboys, Notre Dame Football, and the Boston Red Sox. More than anything, he found joy in supporting his children and grandchildren, especially at their sporting events, where he was their biggest fan.
James is survived by his loving wife of over 20 years, Dolores Manley; his beloved children Laura (Lonis), Kimberly (Matthew), Carey (Kyle), and Sean (Dara); and his stepdaughter Lisa (Darren). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nicole. James was a proud and devoted grandfather to six grandchildren he adored: Lindsey, Alivia, Tyler, Katie, Sophia, and Maddisyn.
A service will be held at the chapel on the third floor of Osprey Heights Retirement Facility, 2808 Lithia Pinecrest, Valrico, FL, on October 2, 2025 at 3:00pm, with a gathering to follow at his daughter's nearby home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or LifePath Hospice Sun City Center in James's memory.
