Heaven got a little livelier on June 25, when our dad, James (Jim) Manring, went to join our mom, Cordelia Sue Manring. He also joined his parents, Robert and Emilie and his youngest brother, Steve. He was born in Columbus, Ohio and grew up there and in Gahanna, Ohio.
He had three daughters who loved him: Lynn (Fred) Pierce, Sherri (Vin) Mannix and Christine Manring. He also had a granddaughter, Lauren Pierce and a brother, Phil Manring, of Pataskala, Ohio. He moved from Columbus to Bradenton/Sarasota in 1979. He worked his entire career as a mold maker, first at Federal Glass in Columbus for approximately 25 years and then at Industrial Glass at Tropicana Products in Bradenton for approximately 25 years until his retirement.
He loved supporting all four of his girls in band, sports, ballet and hip hop. He was involved in the communities in which he lived by being a member of Groveport Lions Club and sat on the Board of Pilot Dogs in Columbus and then helping with community events as an employee of Tropicana. He was very handy and was able to fix anything and took pride in the fact that he taught a lot of those skills to his girls since he had no boys to teach.
We miss his stories and reminiscing but know that he is telling those stories in Heaven.
There will be no official service, but if you would like to honor his life, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in his name to Alzheimer's Association in honor of mom, the Lung Association or the Heart Association.
We are heartbroken but are consoled by the fact that he and mom are together again – Lynn, Sherri, Christine, Lauren, Vin and Fred.
