James John Marsh IV, 82, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Heritage Center at Holiday Healthcare. He was born August 18, 1943 in Terre Haute, IN to the late Geneva (Wilson) and James Marsh III.
James graduated from Jackson High School in Jackson, Michigan. He worked as a tool and die maker at Arkla, Master Tool & Die, General Tool & Die and retired from Arc Machine in Henderson. James was highly respected for his attention to detail and commitment to teaching multiple apprentices throughout his career. James was an accomplished Bullseye Pistol shooter who competed at the state and national level. He held a High Master classification and won several individual and team championships. James was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Daniel Boone Gun Club. James was a ham radio operator. He earned his private pilot's license and enjoyed evening flights over the tristate region and taking long weekend trips wherever the good weather took him and Pauline. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who treasured the time he spent with his family.
James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pauline (Matz) Marsh; sons, James John (Jeannine) Marsh V, Jason Thomas (Kimberly) Marsh and John Paul Marsh; grandchildren, James John Marsh VI (fiancée, Camly), Madeline Rose (Darryn) Phillips, Nicholas Conner (Lizzie) Marsh, Andrew Thomas Marsh and Katie Anne Marsh; great-grandson, Benjamin Phillips; sisters, Carol Marsh and Rita Lacy; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Edwards; and brother-in-law, Stan Lacy.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scout Troop and Venture Crew 399, 1614 Maryland Street, Evansville, IN 47710.
