James Martinez Obituary
James Martinez, lovingly known as "Pop" to his family, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at the age of 90.
Born on January 2, 1936, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, James later made his home in Rockland County, New York, where he spent the majority of his life building a legacy rooted in love, family, and quiet strength.
James was a kind-hearted man with a gentle soul who always had a warm smile and a kind word for everyone he met. His greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted father to his son, Jaime Martinez, and daughter, Wanda Caifa; a cherished father-in-law to Jill Martinez and Anthony Caifa; and a proud and loving grandfather to Juliana Martinez, Alexander Martinez, Tonieann Vassos, Anthony Caifa Jr. and Dakota Caifa. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Cameron Caifa, Charlotte Caifa, Cecilia Caifa, Grace Vassos, and Amelia Vassos, each of whom brought him immense happiness.
"Pop" played an active and loving role in raising his grandchildren, offering steady guidance, unwavering support, and unconditional love. His presence was a constant source of comfort and strength to those closest to him.
In the final weeks of his life, James was surrounded by his devoted family and passed peacefully at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence, comforted by the love that defined his life.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2026 12:00pm - 4:00 pm at T.J. Mcgowan Sons Funeral Home 133 Broadway Haverstraw NY 10927.
