James Masser Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Services, P.C. - Turbotville on Nov. 19, 2025.
James D. Masser, 94, currently of Milton, and formerly Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at home.

Born October 24, 1931 in Allenwood, he was a son of the late Walter O. and Mildred (Kratzer) Masser. On June 16, 1956 he married the former Arlene F. Keefer, and together they celebrated 57 years of marriage until her passing in 2013.

James was a 1950 graduate of Watsontown High School and honorably served in the US Army. He attended Williamsport Technical Institute and was a first-class mechanic who worked on heavy equipment for many years in PA, DE, and NJ.

He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Milton and the Milton American Legion, Post 71.

James loved to tinker on anything mechanical, especially tractors and heavy equipment. He enjoyed being outside, gardening and mowing his lawn; listening to country music; and traveling all over the country. James found great joy in time spent with his family and pets.

James is survived by two daughters, Janet Masser and her husband, Bob Fitch, of Milton, and Joanne and her husband, Rev. Brian Vasey, of Lewisburg; two grandchildren, Brandy and her husband Steve Aguirre, and Timothy Vasey and his wife, Mabelle; two great-grandchildren, Diana and Robin Aguirre; three brothers, David, Daniel, and Joe Masser, all of Allenwood; a sister, Elsie Benfer, of Allenwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by four brothers, Vernon, Andy, Jerry, and Walter "Buddy" Masser; and four sisters, Shirley Harer, Joyce Latshaw, Polly Cameron, and Lois Hook.

There will be a visitation held from 10 to 11 AM on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 107 South Front Street, Milton, where a funeral service will begin at 11AM, with his pastor, Brian Lucas and former pastor, Travis Allshouse, co-officiating. Burial will follow in Church Hill Cemetery, West Milton.
