CLINTON — James (Jim) Robert Mathews, 86, of 101 Bucktown Road, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. at Royal Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Paul Montecinos officiating.
Born on Dec. 27, 1939, in Connecticut, Jim was the son of the late Raymond Henry and Mary Louise DeSantis Mathews. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and a retired maintenance employee.
Jim is survived by his wife, Kathleen D. Mathews; a daughter, Mary Kay Harnois (Richard) of Rhode Island; a son James Robert Mathews Jr. (Dawn) of Massachusetts; a sister, Christine Belletti of Connecticut; a brother, Eugene Mathews of Indiana; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Atkins and four brothers, Leon DeSantis, Edward Mathews, Thomas Mathews, and John Mathews.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service on Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m., and other times at his home.
