Jay was born in Providence, RI, the son of the James A. and Phyllis J. (Newsham) McBride Sr.
He graduated from Bishop Hendricken, Class of 1984. Jay earned his BA in computer science at Boston University in 1999.
He was a Senior Systems Engineer at his company, Alpha NetSolutions for 20 years. Jay is survived by his wife of 27 years, Dr. Marcia L. Valente of Southborough, his daughter Elizabeth "Libby" McBride of Tyngsboro, his son, James V. McBride of Southborough, his mother Phyllis McBride of FL, his brother Andrew "Andy" McBride and his wife Deb of RI, his beloved Golden Retriever, "Josie", as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family , friends and colleagues.
Jay was devoted to his family, and he loved the outdoors, his work and all things automobiles. He loved entertaining with his loving wife and children, his many friends and family, and he cherished his time in New Hampshire and down the Cape. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and children over the years, always in pursuit of local history while enjoying adventure and fun.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 5-7 pm in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 W. Main St., Marlborough, MA.
A Funeral will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11 am at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 27 Main St., Southborough, MA.
A private burial is planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Jay's name to, Home At Last, 100 W. Main St., Landsdale, PA 19446

Jay was my husband's business partner for nearly 25 years. I also knew him as my employer, as I have worked part time for Alpha Net.He was a big guy and often seemed stern, but then would drop a witticism and immediately lighten the mood. We used to gather at the office on pre-covid Fridays, sharing takeout and socializing. Jay always had entertaining stories, often poking fun at himself and his tendency to have bizarre accidents, like the ladder falling onto his vehicle as he was driving. Last year, when Tim had a medical scare, Jay was so kind. He was there for us. We are just gutted to lose him.
