James Lee McCall

James (Lee) McCall passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 29, 2023 in LaPine, OR.
Jim was born and raised in Alameda, CA by his parents, Georgalee and William McCall Sr.
After graduating from high school Jim joined the Airforce. He served his country in Korea and
remained in service until his Honorable Discharge as a Staff Sergeant in 1962. He studied
Aviation Sciences at Laney College in Oakland, CA, and Finite Mathematics at Cal State
Sacramento. After leaving the service Jim continued his interest in aviation owning a series of
small planes.
In 1964 Jim married the love of his life, Beverly Brown, whom he had known since childhood.
Together they raised their girls, moving to Oregon in 1969. It was then they began their own
business, Insured Driveaway, which allowed them to travel all over the US. Jim and Bev enjoyed
taking their grandchildren on these travels; boating with family and friends was another way they
spent many hours together. They later retired to LaPine, OR where Jim spent time working on
his classic cars, and attending events held by the High Lakes Car Club which he and Bev were
members of for years.
Jim is survived by his brother William McCall Jr (Toni), daughters Gerilee McCall and Colleen
Laszlo (Tom), seven grandchildren and their spouses, eleven great-grandchildren, and one
great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, and his wife Beverly who
passed away in 2020.
Jim will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery in a private service. In lieu of flowers,
please send donations to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.
