James Douglas McCarty

James Douglas McCarty - age 81 of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday evening, December 17, 2025. Jim served in the United States Marine Corp. for 23 years retiring as Major. Jim worked for the federal government for most of his career and Loudon County government as a Juvenile Probation Officer. He was a steward of the community serving the youth of the county. Jim was a dedicated family man who loved his wife and family dearly. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hiking, and running.
He was preceded in death by his parents Father, James Ernest McCarty and Mother Clara Jean McCarty; daughter, Allison Jane McCarty; grandson, Ethan Pigg; brother, Ronald McCarty.
Survived by wife of 26 years, Jo Ann Wardell McCarty; daughters, Shonagh O'Neal and Brooke Eskew; grandchildren: Kendel McCarty, Katie Kitchen, Kelcie Pigg, Kali Pigg, Drake Hill, Ava Carroll; several great grandchildren; brother, Wayne McCarty; sister, Sandy McCarty; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Monday, December 29th at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. A celebration of his life will follow at 6 p.m. Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. on Tuesday December 30th at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway in Knoxville for graveside services with full military honors.
