James Joseph McDonald April 12, 1927 – March 11, 2022 James was born to his loving parents, Mary Ellen (Donahue) McDonald and Francis A. McDonald. He grew up on Ontario Street in the Kensington Section of Philadelphia. He attended Ascension Church and grade school, then furthered his education at North Catholic High School. In June of 1950, he married the love of his life, Mary Anne Burns, of the Germantown section of Philadelphia. They met at a church dance and it is said he walked from Kensington to Germantown to date her. They had their 4 children all in the 50's: James Stephen McDonald (wife Maureen), Michael F. McDonald, Ellen McDonald Ehinger (husband Ralph) and Mary Beth McDonald Van Trieste. They moved to King of Prussia in 1957 and were one of the founding members of Mother of Divine Providence Catholic Church. James lived a simple life, vacations at the Seashore, coaching his children's sports teams, and living a good life of love and laughter. But most importantly, watching all Philadelphia Sports teams, especially the Sixers. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. James was loved by many and gave much love in return. Relatives and friends are invited to James' Life Celebration on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 9-11 AM, followed by is memorial service at 11AM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton, 200 W. Germantown Pike; interment will be held privately.

If he was anything like his children, he was truly a remarkable man and the world is a better place having had him in it. His legacy will continue on. Best wishes to all who remember and mourn him.

The last sibling of my Mother, Eleanor McDonald McCarty. The end of the McDonald line and the end of so many memories of a great Kensington family. Rest in peace, Uncle Jimmy.

Jim will be missed by all of us at the Upper Merion Senior Service Center. Jim enjoyed greeting, always with a great smile, our members as they came in and he also going to the exercise classes.
