James F. McMartin

James F. McMartin, 75, of Amsterdam, NY; passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025.

Born in Amsterdam on July 6, 1949, he was the son of the late William V. and Evelyn Voorhees McMartin.

Jim received his education in the Amsterdam school system and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School. He went on to serve in the U. S. Navy from 1968 until being honorably discharged in 1970.

Jim was a master mechanic and retired from the City of Amsterdam Department of Public Works.

He was a member of the Bigelow Weavers Club, John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701 and the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kathleen Male McMartin whom he married September 14, 1985, his sister, Sharon Langford, sisters in law, Donna McNamara (Dan Murphy), Tammy Dwyer (J.R. Glover),  brothers-in-law Jack Male (Marcelle) and Ronald Male (Kelley) and Thomas Siegenthaler. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. 

Jim was  predeceased by his brother-in-law, Rick Mle and sister in law June Siegenthaler.

Relatives  and friends are invited to visit with Jim's family on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m at Riley Mortuary, 110 Division St., Amsterdam, NY 12010

Navy Funeral Honors will take place at the funeral home immediately follow visitation.
