James Meckley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ripley Funeral and Cremation Services - Ripley on Nov. 7, 2025.
James Cletus Meckley, known to many as "Jimmy," departed this earthly world and entered into the presence of his dear Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital in Germantown, Tennessee.
Following his wishes, Jimmy will be cremated, and although no formal services are scheduled at this time, his family deeply appreciates the prayers, kind words, and fond memories shared by those who knew and cared for him.
Born on September 24, 1951, in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Jimmy was the son of the late Clair J. Meckley and Nancy Ann Brenner. A proud college graduate, he was a man who valued honesty, hard work, and a good laugh. He never shied away from a challenge and made his living by doing whatever needed to be done, approaching each task with determination and a steady spirit.
After spending many years in California, Jimmy found his way to the quiet countryside of Tippah County, Mississippi-a place that quickly stole his heart. He often said it was the happiest place he had ever been. In this small corner of the world, he found peace in the simplicity of life, the beauty of the land, and the kindness of his neighbors.
Known to many as the man behind Uncle Jimmy's Crooked Chicken Fresh Eggs, he turned his love of animals and the outdoors into a little business that brought smiles to many. Raising chickens and selling farm-fresh eggs wasn't just a hobby for Jimmy-it was a way to stay connected to people. Whether delivering a carton of eggs or stopping to chat along the way, he always left others with a story, a grin, or a reminder that life's joys are often found in the simplest things.
Outside of his business, Jimmy enjoyed fishing, long walks, and quiet moments spent soaking in nature. He was content with what he had and thankful for every new day, often saying how blessed he felt just to wake up and breathe the morning air.
Whether you met him through his chickens, on a fishing bank, or during one of his friendly visits around town, Jimmy had a way of making people feel seen and appreciated. His cheerful personality, kind heart, and quick wit will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Though his chair may now sit empty, his laughter and light will linger in the memories he leaves behind.
"Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy."
