James Glenn Menefee, 66, of LaPlace, LA went to his heavenly home peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2021, at Oschner Medical Center in Kenner, LA. He was born on July 25, 1955, in Monroe, LA to the late James Thomas Menefee and Pearl LaRue Blazier Menefee Self. Glenn worked as a master mechanic for Head & Engquist Equipment Services for 40 years, retiring in 2019. He was a jack of all trades, and he loved cooking (He was always so excited to describe and explain what he cooked and how - a great chef!), woodworking, and fixing almost anything. He loved to help everyone, and will be remembered as a prankster/jokester, for his “tell it like it is” personality, for his strong work ethic, but most of all for his love for his wife, his sons, his grandchildren, and his entire family. He will be deeply missed by many and loved forever!
He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Linda Marie Ferry, two precious sons, Blaine Menefee (Sharon), Chase Menefee (Amanda), one dear stepson, Dennis Lee Prine (Julie), and gifts from God-his grandchildren: Tyler Menefee, Elyssa Menefee, Tanner Menefee, Deegan Menefee, Payton Menefee, Falyn Menefee, Mairyn Menefee, Kaylee Prine, and Kasen Prine. He is also survived by his mother, Pearl Menefee and his stepfather, Sonny Self. Surviving siblings are Betty Weenig (Robert), Phillis Ivy (Gary), Judy Corley, Pam Tannehill (Steve), and Dennis Menefee (Meredith). He was loved dearly by all of his nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
Glenn was preceded in death by his father, James Thomas Menefee; his brother, Daniel Gregory Menefee; his brother-in-law, Danny Ray Corley; his nephew, Richard Samuel Brown.
A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Riser Funeral Home, Olla Chapel, Olla, LA under their direction. Brother Dennis Baker of Olla First Baptist Church will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Olla Cemetery.
Mask will be required.
