James Lawrence Meyer, a cherished member of his family and community, passed away on January 10, 2026, in Washington, Missouri, at the age of 81. Born on August 1, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, James was a man marked by integrity, dedication, and service. He honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966, a period in which he demonstrated his commitment to his country. Following his military service, he joined Western Electric and continued his career as the company merged into AT&T, from which he ultimately retired.

James graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1962, embarking on a journey that would see him touch many lives. He was not only dedicated to his work but also embodied a passion for life that resonated with those around him. An avid hunter, he loved the thrill of the chase, particularly for deer and turkey. His creativity and craftsmanship were evident in his love for building and fabricating projects, showcasing his practical skills and flair for innovation. In his later years, he developed a deep interest in restoring old farm tractors, diligently working on 16 different tractors, relishing the challenges each presented.

He was known for his generous spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand, no matter the request. His compassionate nature and willingness to assist anyone in need will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

James is survived by his loving son, Bobby (Billie) Meyer; his cherished grandchildren, Kevin and Nikole Meyer; and his brothers and sisters, Rich Meyer, Rita Zeier, Joan Meyer, Judy Gaines, Mary (Ron) Rion, Anne (Steve) Martini, Carol DeVaney, Kathy Loessberg, and Janice (Jack) Muckerman. He is predeceased by his parents, Alphonse and Johanna Meyer.

The legacy of James Lawrence Meyer will live on in the hearts of family and friends who remember him not just for the man he was, but for the love and kindness he shared throughout his life. A visitation will be held on January 24, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, both taking place at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri.
