James J. Michel

James Joseph (Jim) Michel of Menomenee Falls, WI passed at age 93 on December 21, 2022. Born March 21, 1929 in Bark River, MI to Joseph and Mary (Charboneau) Michel. Jim graduated from Escanaba High School in 1946 and went on to serve in the US Army as a Repeaterman in Kyoto Japan following World War II. He returned to Milwaukee and proudly served as a City of Milwaukee Firefighter for 36 years. He married Kathleen (Kay) Schnorr with whom he recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. Jim is survived by son Jamie Michel of Port Angeles, WA and his sister Donna Frossard of Bark River, MI. Jim is pre-deceased by his parents and 10 siblings. Jim was an avid handball, racquetball and pickleball player who enjoyed winters in AZ, summers in the northwoods and deer hunting in the UP. Always eager for a cup of coffee and a conversation, Jim also enjoyed owning and managing real estate in his free time. In his final years, he was so appreciative of those who made time to visit with the elderly and he often said that he wished he had done more of that himself. In lieu of donations, please honor Jim by visiting with your elders.

There will be no memorial service at this time, but a celebration of Jim's life will be held next spring around his birthday.
