Mr. James Donald “Don” Moore of Red Oak, VA passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024, at his home. He was born in Halifax County, VA on February 6,1948 and was 76 years old. He was the son of the late Jesse James Moore and June Walker Moore and was married to Tina Hightower Moore.
He was a member of Alton Baptist Church. Don was an avid golfer, and he loved playing a round with his friends. Growing up Don developed a passion for baseball. He grew up playing through his childhood all the way to his varsity high school baseball team. Following High School, Don was drafted by the Houston Astros where he spent several years playing for their minor league affiliate team. Don will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel Friday September 6, 2024, 2:00 PM with Rev. Kristen White and Rev Zak Ford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
