James Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Click Funeral Home - Farragut Chapel on Feb. 18, 2026.
James Mack Moore, Jr., 80, of Knoxville, TN died on February 13, 2026, after a short illness. His family was at his side. Born in Memphis, TN, on February 21, 1945, he was the only child of the late James Mack Moore, Sr., and Lois Norris Moore. Jim, as he was known to his friends, moved often as a child due to his father's career in the Navy. A Martin High School alumnus, he attended the University of Tennessee Martin before joining the U. S. Army, where he served honorably in the Phu Lam Signal Battalion in Vietnam, 1967-1968. He subsequently completed his bachelor's degree in engineering physics and Juris Doctor degree at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, where he met his wife of 53 years, Janice. They settled in Knoxville where Jim built his career as an attorney.

Jim received many hours of joy supporting his sons in various sports and activities, gardening, woodworking, and playing golf. He was instrumental in establishing high school ice hockey in Knoxville, and the championship trophy is named in his honor.

Jim was active in the Tennessee Valley Homebrewers Association (TVH), taking his prize-winning beers to area festivals. He was also a Certified Beer Judge. Jim delighted in the science and community of home brewing, sharing his expertise and latest creations with others.

He is survived by his wife, Janice, sons, Thomas and Nathan (Laura), beloved granddaughters, Charlotte and Harper, many family members, and cherished comrades in TVH. Jim's quiet strength, skillful hands, and generous heart will be greatly missed.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel, Knoxville, on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Visitation at 10:30 a.m. the service at 11:30. A graveside gathering will follow immediately at Pleasant Forest Cemetery, Concord Rd. The family invites friends to share a memory of Jim there.
