James Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home - Kenton on Mar. 5, 2026.
James (Jim) Franklin Moore, 88, of Kenton, passed away March 3,2026, at Vancrest of Ada. Jim was born on May 7, 1937, to Ralph (Pete) and Betty (Rella) Moore, on July 7, 1962 he married Sharon Lee Edwards.

Jim is survived by a son: Shawn Paul Moore, daughter-in-law: Shawn Anne (Lange) Moore, granddaughters: Kelcy Moore, Alexa Moore, Mikaela (Will) Hoppe, Jenna (Mitchel) Sawmiller, all of Kenton, and Devry Moore New Albany, OH, great- grandson: Dax Hoppe, brothers: John (Leah) Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother Jack (Lois surviving) Moore deceased.

Jim graduated from Kenton Senior High School and attended Ohio Northern University. His activities included serving in the Army, City Council, Rotary, Lions, Elk, past Exalted Ruler. He was an avid Golfer and a very hard working man from an early age. He could often be found working at the family's restaurant (Moore's Steak House). In adulthood Jim began a career in banking, beginning his career at Kenton Savings Bank and ending at Farmer's Bank. While he may have had a successful career, he'll always claim his and Sharon's greatest accomplishment was raising Shawn, their son. Upon retirement Jim and Sharon spent many winters in Bonita Springs, Florida. Jim was a loyal Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns Fan. He enjoyed attending games with his wife and son. Jim or Papa could always be found cheering on his granddaughters at sporting events or spending time with them at his pool. He would often say the best gift he was given was the gift of 5 granddaughters which he loved with all his heart. While we as a family are saddened about his passing, we know he is at peace with the love of his life.

Donations may be made to: Alzheimer's Association, Bridge Hospice, or Amy Kohl- Scholarship Fund. Per Jim's request all services will be private.
