James Arlen Mueller

James Arlen Mueller was born on August 3rd, 1939 to Fredrick and Hazel Mueller in Fresno, California. James parents were devoted Christians and raised James and his brother in Calvary Presbyterian church in Fresno. James attended Sunday school throughout his early childhood, attended Bullard Elementary School in Fresno, and graduated from Clovis Union High School where he was a three sport athlete excelling in football, track and swimming.
James began an interest in singing as a member of the school choir. He performed the lead part of Frederic in the Operetta "Pirates of Penzance" while getting vocal training at Sherman Clay Studios in Fresno. After graduating from high school, he attended Fresno City College briefly. Afterwards, in 1958,James, enlisted in the United States Naval Airforce serving at Oakland Naval Air Station and Alameda Naval Air Station.
During the time James was serving in the Navy, James studied voice with Myrtle Leonard McVicker in Alameda, California and performed in musical comedy productions throughout the Bay Area for many years. James also studied voice with Dick Vance Studios in Oakland, California.
In January, 1962 James began working for Bank of America in Oakland, California. He married the following year and had three girls and a son.
James was transferred by the bank to the Systems & Equipment Department in 1965 which started a career as a programming analyst. James transferred to the Asia Division Systems Department in Manila, Philippines in 1977 and in 1979 was moved to the Island of Guam where he worked as a computer technician and consultant for the bank. James also welcomed the birth of his 4th daughter in Guam.
In 1983 James met a born-again Christian woman, Donna, who began inviting him to attend church with her. As time went by James began feeling the Lord calling him back. Two years later, James and Donna were married in the Korean Mission church they were both attending.
One morning, in a prayer service, James surrendered his life to the Lord and was baptized in the Holy Spirit. A few weeks later the Lord spoke to James telling him to spend his lifetime working with and teaching young people. The Lord told James that his testimony could possibly save young people from making the same mistakes that he had made.
Early in 1989 James was transferred back to California and settled in Concord where he worked as a Quality Assurance consultant for Bank of America.
Through mutual friends, James and Donna were led to Oak Park Assembly of God church in Pleasant Hill. The Oak Park associate Pastor at the time asked James to teach Sunday school to the youth, and James said, "Yes." This began many years of teaching and working with the Youth Group at Oak Park as an adult leader.
Furthermore, James volunteered his time, talents, and skills in many ways throughout the years in the church. For example, James was elected twice to the board at Oak Park, served as the bookkeeper for 9 ½ years, served as the Director of Men's Ministries for several years, served on the worship team and sang in the church choir.
James retired from his work as a consultant for a data processing and management company in January of 2002.
James is survived by his loving wife: Donna, step-children: Sandra M. Bradley and John J. Bradley IV; children: Lynn Marie Talley, Dean James Mueller, Leslie Diane Mueller, Lisa Anne Mueller, Jaime Renee Mueller; brother: George Mueller with one nephew and four nieces. Additionally, Jim is blessed with ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren
