James Muldowney Obituary
James (Jim) Patrick Muldowney, 82, passed away on Saturday February 17, 2024, following a brief illness. He was predeceased by his parents John & Elaine Muldowney (Pasquale). He is survived by his wife and true love of 61 years Kathy Muldowney; children Jack (Laura) Muldowney, Sue (Mike) Schaffner, Karen Alunni, and Patrick (Laragh) Muldowney; grandchildren Connor and James Muldowney, Christopher, Zachary and Sarah Schaffner, Rosemary, Sadie, and Jenevieve Muldowney; sisters Carol Botting, Elaine (Al) Columbus, Lorraine Allore, Kathy (Jim) Fitch, and sister-in-law Liz O'Connor. He was also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends.
Jim met his beautiful wife, Kathy, when they were attending St. Paul's high school, from which he graduated in 1960. They were married in 1963. He often talked about how they had done everything together, and their fond memories of visiting Ireland and Italy. For years, they also spent winters in Florida, where they enjoyed walking the beach and spending time with friends and family. Jim proudly watched all of his children attend college, instilling the value of education in us from a young age. He encouraged us to pursue our interests wholeheartedly and celebrated every achievement. After retiring from IBM, he realized a personal goal of owning his own business. In the past couple years, he looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren and his daily visits with his sweet grandpuppies, Abbey and Henry.
We will dearly miss all the laughs and memories he created in our lives. His love of family and passionate spirit were unmatched. Whether he was rooting on Notre Dame, the Mets, or the horses, we loved how he even approached fandom with great energy. In lieu of flowers, it was Jim's wish that donations would be made to two of his favorite charities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Mercy House of the Southern Tier.
The family will receive friends at the Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis St. Endwell, NY 13760 on Saturday, February 24th from 10:00 am- 10:50 am, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 am. A private burial at Calvary Cemetery will occur at a later date.
