James "Jim" Murphy

In Loving Memory of James (Jim) Murphy James "Jim" Murphy of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on September 26, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family after a courageous battle with COPD. Jim was preceded in death by his cherished wife Kay, daughter Tamara, parents Morris and Jeanette, brother William, and sister Elaine. Born and raised in Bemidji, Minnesota, Jim moved to Minneapolis in his early twenties, where he worked as a laborer in various areas of construction. In his mid-twenties, he met the love of his life, Kay, and they married on December 21, 1968. Together, they raised seven children. Jim was a firm yet kind father, known for his quick wit and love of a good joke. Jim had a passion for golf, hunting, and fishing. He shared many adventures with his lifelong friends Gordy King and Mike Musil, traveling to Alaska, Mexico, and beyond for memorable outdoor excursions. His love for family ran deep-his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. They would eagerly run to his lap, showering him with hugs and kisses. He enjoyed watching Jerry Springer, Judge Judy, and Wheel of Fortune, and spent countless hours solving word searches, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles-a hobby he lovingly passed down to his family. Jim is survived by his children: Roxanne (Louis) Garcia, Troy (Roylene) Hoff, Heidi (Bryan) Saiko, Shawn Murphy, Tari Joullanar, and Nikole (Fred) Holland, daughter-in-law Clare (John) Podvin and Son-in-law Said Joullanar. He leaves behind 14 grandchildren: Ricardo Garcia, Michael Garcia, Kelly Hoff, Derrick Hoff, Tim Hoff, Chelsey Saiko, Danielle Saiko, Sydney (Marcus Auguste) Murphy, Tarik Joullanar, Alexus (Arafath) Joullanar-Shiyam, Amale Joullanar, Anthony Holland, Andre Holland, and Ashley Holland. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren: Emily, Anika, Noah, Sadie, Jadelyn, McKenna, Brayden, Addisyn, Julian, Remy, and Kora. Jim will be deeply missed by his extended family and many dear friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 6373 Hodgson Road, Lino Lakes MN 55014. The gathering will be an open house from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Please come and share your stories and have a bite to eat.
