James Muse Obituary

He was born December 28, 1946 to the late James S. Muse and Florida Marie Muse. He was the oldest of 13 children, 2 preceded him in death, his brother Jesse and sister Doris Muse. He joined the Fourth Mount Zion Baptist Church at an early age.
James worked for Alleghany Warehouse in Richmond, VA for 44 years were he received numerous awards and certificates. Upon retirement he decided to go back to work part-time with Nottoway County Public Schools as Custodian at the Amelia-Nottoway Vocational Center. James loved to watch his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys, baseball team the Atlanta Braves, hunting and fishing. James coached and played for "Downs Electronics Softball Team and received the Coach Award. He loved to go to Rocky Mt., VA to visit his family.
To know James he was a loving and faithful, husband, son, father, brother, uncle and friend.
James leaves to cherish fond and loving memories his beloved and devoted wife of 17 years, Karen Washington Muse, his children daughters; Claudia Muse Brown, LaFonda Muse Redd, Son Reginald (Lisa) Muse, 2 Step Sons Pierre (Crystal) Washington, and Ralph Jennings, Jr. His loving and devoted Mother Florida Muse, his siblings; Thelma Delaney-Wilson (devoted & his cab driver), Gladys Rogers, Sandra Watson, Lawrence Casper, Mildred Brown, Don Casper, Danny (Ethel) Casper, Doreen (Dale) Johnson, Angela (Russell) Givens, Terrance (Sametria) Casper. His Grandchildren Darrell Miller, Jr., Shamonique Chapman, Dystany Muse, Shanice Brown, Re'Quan Williams, Ray'anah Washington and Kivah Washington. 6 great grand children Azira, Cambria, Cazier, Darrien, Kensley & Dezmond. 4 sister in laws; Priscilla(Lester)Mahan (devoted), Diane Williams, Dorothy Harvey, Frances Washington, Brother in law Edward Washington, Jr. 1 Uncle, Alvin(Evelyn) Witcher, Sr., 2 aunts; Nettie Jones and Annie Williams.
Professional Services Entrusted to: W. E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone, VA.
Funeral: Friday, September 16, 2022 at 1pm at Fourth Mount Zion Baptist Church, Crewe, VA.Interment: Jackson Cemetery, Crewe, VA

I worked with James for many years and never heard him say a cross word to anyone or about anyone. He was always a perfect gentleman. When it started to snow during the day, he would clean clean off the ladies windshields and when it was a cold winter day, he would start their cars and warm them up before they left. It was an honor to have known this fine man.
