James F. Nallen Jr. passed away peacefully at age 89 on February 21, 2025. Born on March 24, 1935, Jim lived a full and active life.
Softball was one of Jim's greatest passions, and his talent on the field earned him a place in the Chicago 16-inch Softball Hall of Fame. He also spent 40 years working as an electrician, known not just for his skill but for the pride he took in his work.
Outside of work, Jim was always on the move. He loved biking and the sense of freedom it gave him. He was an avid reader, especially of non-fiction, always interested in learning about history. And when it came to golf, he was just as happy playing a round as he was watching the pros. His hobbies reflected his curious mind and active spirit.
He was the oldest of 8 children. And more than anything, Jim loved spending time with his family. He was married to his beloved wife, Charlotte Nallen (Covelli), for many wonderful years before her passing. He is survived by his children, Laura Reid and Jim Nallen (Stephanie). He was also a proud grandfather to five grandkids-Derek Reid, Kyle Reid, Caitlin Reid (Scott Schwartz), Paige Nallen and Alexa Nallen-who brought him much happiness.
Jim will be remembered for his quick wit and competitive spirit. His family and friends will remember his laughter, and the impact he made will not be forgotten.
