James Napier Jr. Obituary

In Loving Memory of Jim Napier Jr.

It is with unimaginable sorrow and deep love that we share the passing of James ("Jim") Napier Jr., who left us on June 19, 2025, at the age of 65. He was our rock, our guide, and our greatest comfort. His absence leaves a space no one can fill.

Jim was born in Shelby, Ohio, on June 3, 1960, to James and Lola Napier. After graduating from Shelby High School in 1978, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. He continued his education at Marion Technical College and The Ohio State University and went on to hold several respected leadership roles at FirstEnergy, including Regional President at Penelec. He was also a proud member of the Masons. Jim led with strength, deep integrity, and genuine compassion. He was a leader in every sense - guided by purpose, grounded in values, and always mindful of the people around him.

He had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor, a gift for practical jokes, and a laugh that could brighten any room. To his daughters, he was a constant source of love, pride, and encouragement-always pushing them to be the best version of themselves. Through every chapter of life, he was their protector, teacher, and greatest supporter.

Jim deeply cherished his wife, Maryann - the love of his life and his partner in all things. Their bond, built on friendship, respect, and enduring love, brought joy in every season of life, whether traveling, golfing, or spending time with dear friends. As a grandpa ("Papa"), Jim was endlessly proud and wholeheartedly present - cheering from the sidelines, fishing, sharing quiet moments, and surrounding his grandchildren with love. To his grandchildren, he was a hero.

Though our hearts are broken, we are profoundly grateful for the time we had, the love he gave, and the legacy he leaves in each of us.

Jim is survived by his wife of 20 years, Maryann; his sister, Pam Roark (Ray); daughters, Hope Napier (Brooke Morrison) and Amber Nastasi (Jeff); and grandchildren, Chloe, Landon, Blake, Molly, and Livvy, along with an endless circle of friends. He also shared a special bond with Dave Villao, who was like a son to him and a cherished part of the family.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Thursday, June 26, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. at The Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00 PM. The service will include honors recognizing his proud affiliation with the Masonic Lodge and his military service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jim's memory to the American Heart Association at PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 https://www.heart.org/ or the Shriners Children's at Processing Center, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394 https://donate.lovetotherescue.org in honor of the kindness he so freely gave.

He is missed beyond words, but carried with us, always.
