James "JD" David Colville, 84, of Lillington, NC, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025. Born on June 9, 1941, to the late Hubert and Nancy Colville, JD lived a life defined by dedication, strength, and an unwavering love for his family.
JD proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring with the rank of E7 Chief Petty Officer. After completing his military service, he continued his hardworking nature through a second career in construction until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Kenneth Colville, and by nine siblings.
A devoted family man, JD found great joy in life's simple pleasures-riding his tractor or lawn mower, tending to his garden, hunting, and fishing. His gentle spirit and steady presence touched the lives of all who knew him. He is remembered for his service, his quiet strength, and the deep pride he held in his family, especially in the grandchildren who followed in his footsteps by serving in the United States Navy: Jestin, Katilyn, and Anson, along with Jestin's wife, Krystal.
JD is survived by his loving wife, Connie Colville; children Misty Lyons and husband Miles, Kathleen Oxendine and husband Kenny Ray, Jimmy Lee Colville and wife Lisa, and Wayne Lowery and wife Lois; stepchildren Melinda Stone and Christina Fore; and adopted children Kristen and Zayden Colville. He leaves behind a large and cherished family of grandchildren, including Calen, Anson, Jenna, Aaliyah, Koda, Karma, Bodhi, Damion, Jared, Jessica, Jestin, Jenny, Josh, Stephanie, Chris, Johnathan, Amelia, Brittney, William, Kendra, Erika, Tyler, Ethan, and Caden; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his loving nieces, Denise Kolman and husband Mark, and Teresa Smith and husband Steve.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Overhills Church. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Overhills Church, 948 Overhills Rd., Linden, NC 28356.
