James Christopher Nelson

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved son and brother, James Christopher Nelson, on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

James was a truly gifted computer programmer. He created many video games including three that were highly rated during "itch.io" Game Jams. His games included multiple platformers (2D and 3D), a survival game, a heist game, and a driving simulator.

In addition to making video games, he was very good at playing them. He excelled at Celeste, Portal, Geometry Dash, and other rhythm games. When playing games with his family he was always a great competitor or teammate. We have many wonderful memories of playing Mario Kart, Go Vacation, and Minecraft together.

James excelled at solving Rubik cubes with speed times of less than 30 seconds. He enjoyed solving many different types of Rubik cubes ranging from 2x2 to 9x9. James was also very good at Chess, both online and in-person.

James was actively involved in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for much of his life, teaching his younger brothers their Aaronic Priesthood duties and reading through the Book of Mormon multiple times.

He is survived by his parents, two sisters, two brothers and many extended family members. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 11:00am in the Cedar Hollow Stake Center located at 2178 North 1200 East, Lehi, Utah. A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 6-8pm and before the funeral services from 10-10:45am at the same location.
