James "Jim" Patrick Nelson, 64, of Maplewood, passed unexpectedly on January 18 2026.
He was preceded in death by parents, Richard and Josephine Nelson; and brother-in-law, Lee Raley.
Jim is survived by his siblings, Nancy Raley, Diane (JL) Gray, Rick (Deanna) Nelson, Tammy (Scott) Anderson, and John (Elza) Nelson; many nieces and nephews; close friends and bosses, Annette and Joe Mifsud and their family; and other family and friends.
Jim was a people person, a constant jokester, with a great ability to make people laugh. He had a passion and talent for art and earned a degree in graphic design. Known as the "man in black" he loved the color black and looked dapper in it. He especially enjoyed watching the MN Vikings, fishing, and working with his friends and co-workers at Boars Head. Jim's kindness and spirit will be greatly missed.
A service is being planned for a later date.
