James O. Niday

James O. Niday, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family. James was born on May 19, 1937, in Denver, Colorado, the son of Manford and Willa (Clark) Niday. He was a 1955 graduate of Sioux City Central High School and went on to serve honorably in the United States Navy. Upon his return, he earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Iowa. On July 8, 1956, James was united in marriage to Jane Boeck in Denison, Iowa. He worked at Rockwell Collins on Avionics and the Apollo program. James was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, assisting with church bookkeeping and IT. He enjoyed woodworking and electronics. James will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. James is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Jane Niday of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Kimberly Niday of Billings, Montana; son, Mark Niday of Cedar Rapids; and sister, Barbara Montgomery of Denver. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, David Niday. Memorials in James's memory may be directed to the charity of your choice.
