James Edward Nixon, 75, of Wheeling, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

He was born on April 20, 1950, the son of the late Harold Nixon and Rose (Baller) Nixon.

Rail was a retired coal miner, an avid golfer, and a big Mountaineers fan. He was a black and gold guy through and through-never missing a Steelers game, a Pirates game, or a PGA Tour event. He loved to cast a line while cracking open a beer, and nobody could tell a story like Rail could. Whether it was around a campfire out in Viola, at dinner watching football, or throwing horseshoes with his family, Rail's laughter and storytelling always brought people together.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He would do anything for his family and made sure everyone around him knew they were loved.

In addition to his parents, Rail was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anita (Bibbee) Nixon.

He is survived by his only sibling, John (Janet Nixon) Nixon; children, James Nixon II, and grandchildren James Nixon III, Sophia Nixon, Ava Nixon, and Sloan Nixon, Jennifer (Nixon) Peel (Matthew Peel), and grandchildren Abby Peel and Emma Peel, Shawn Nixon (Ashley Groome), and grandchildren Cooper, Emma, and Shawn Nixon II, Jeffrey Nixon (Sherry Nixon) and grandchildren Chris Ice (Mickenzie Moore), David Redman (Yvonne Strothers), and great grandchildren Ambria and Drayden, Brent Nixon and Grandson Aiko Nixon, Stephen Nixon; Step sons, Mike Bibbee (Kayla Bibbee), Brian Bibbee; nephew, Jonathan Nixon and niece, Jessica Moore; and several family members, all of his friends at Wakim's, and Club Marshall.

Rail's legacy will live on through the stories he told, the laughter he sparked, and the love he shared with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
