James Gilbert Norman, 80, of New Haven, passed away Friday August 22, 2025 at his residence. He was born May 1, 1945 in Nelson County, retired from General Electric, enjoyed playing his guitar, listening to music and was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Allan Norman; great-granddaughter, Nora Boone; parents, Harry T. and Dora Norman; eight brothers, Lloyd Norman, Tommy Norman, Joe Norman, Melvin Norman, Otis Norman, Percy Norman, Orville Norman, and infant brother David Norman; and seven sisters, Hattie Glass, Pearl Walker, Mary Downs, Beatrice Muncy, Muzetta Price, Rosie Norman, and Dora Norris.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Norman of New Haven; six children, Sarah (Phil) Shaughnessy of Indianapolis, Indiana, Ronnie (Kim) Norman, Denise Cecil, Allen (Missy) Norman all three of Bardstown, Wendy Edelen of New Haven, and Kevin (Crystal) Norman of Louisville; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Johnny Norman; two sisters, Wanda Mattingly, and Juanita Dalton; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be 12:00 pm Tuesday August 26, 2025 at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Brother Darrell Goodlett will officiate. Visitation will be 3 - 8 pm Monday August 25, 2025 and 10 - 12 pm August 26, 2025 at Barlow Funeral Home.
