James Edward O'Neill, 93, of Thomas, WV, passed away at Garrett Medical Regional Center in Oakland, MD, on August 26, 2025. Born on November 11, 1931, in Providence RI, he was the son of the late James and Mary O'Neill.
James joined the United States Army Airborne, and served in the Korean War. He then became a Journeyman Electrician and later became an Electrical Engineer working for Stone and Webster. James was a Mason as Worshipful Master, Westhampton L.P. Michaels Lodge, No. 302, A.F. & A.M. He was a devoted Red Sox fan. His wife being a native of Thomas, made the decision easy to move there, and for the past year they enjoyed their time together living at the Pines. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Steven O'Neill, Karen O'Neill Speed, and Patty Kay D'Arcangelis and husband Joesph; grandchildren, Ashley Coates, Josh Coates and wife Melissa, Philip D'Arcangelis and wife Abby, Lisa Jeffcoat and husband Will, Gary Pase, Laurel Pase; great grandchildren, Claire Coates, Joseph Coates, Ryli Plunkett, River Jeffcoat, Tucker D'Arcangelis, Raya Jeffcoat; siblings, Howard O'Neill, and Mary Rathbun.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia O'Neill, whom recently passed in April of 2025; a step son, Bruce Pace; and his siblings, Elisie Roark, Gladys Newman, Charles O'Neill, Ruthie Gillis, Herbert O'Neill, Grace Stuckey, Leonard O'Neill, Robert O'Neill, and Janice Imondi.
James' wishes to be cremated have been honored, and there will be a private family memorial held at a later date. The Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes - Davis Chapel, is honored to be serving the O'Neill family at this time.
