James "Jim" Oilund, 82, Minot, ND, passed away Friday, September 5, 2025, at Trinity Health.

James Bernard Oilund was born June 18, 1943, the son of Inoh and Alma (Ahlgran) Oilund in Minot, ND. He was raised and educated in Minot graduating from Minot High in 1961.

Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1962, serving until he was honorably discharged in 1965.

He then attended Jack's Hairstyling College in Minneapolis, MN. Following school he worked in the hairstyling industry until his retirement. After his retirement in 2008, he returned to Minot to be with his family. When his sister, Betty, moved to Arizona, he followed and lived there a number of years, before returning to Minot in 2023.

Jim enjoyed people, music, reading, and his family. He was a talented craftsman and gardener. He was an animal lover, his best friend was his dog, Ozzie. His rescue cat, Dori, will miss him dearly. He was a kind, caring, and thoughtful person. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. Jim was a wonderful son and brother, and he will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and brother-in-law.

He is survived by his brothers, Robert Oilund and Melvin (Anna) Oilund; sisters, June Aramaki, Betty (Reuben) Bauman, and Mary (Stuart) Larson; and many wonderful nephews and nieces.

Memorials maybe given to the Hairball Haven and Souris Valley Animal Shelter.

In accordance with Jim's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service.

A private graveside service will take place at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
