James OPPERUD Obituary

June 20, 1934 - August 7, 2025

James Allen Opperud, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Spokane, Washington.

He was born June 20, 1934, in Ambrose, to Clarence and Ethel Opperud. James graduated from Ambrose High School and attended Minot State Teachers College.

He married Peggy L. Indvik in 1963. They were married for more than 60 years and raised two sons, Scott and Brian. He has one granddaughter and four great-grandchildren.

Upon Peggy's death, he will be interred in the Ambrose Cemetery.

James had several careers; teacher in North Dakota, insurance agent in Oregon, and apple orchardist in Tonasket, Washington.

The last 20 years he and his wife traveled extensively in a motor home and volunteered at various state and national parks. He met many friends in his travels and through square dancing.

He was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Ethel Opperud; and brothers, Clarence (Everett) and Charles (Ernest).
