James A. Parrillo, Sr., 82, formerly of North Scituate, passed away Thursday, May 22nd, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Linda M. (DePari) Parrillo.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late James H. and Concetta (Lombardi) Parrillo. Brother to the late Denise Marie Parrillo and survived by his brother Kenneth Parrillo.
Mr. Parrillo was employed in the jewelry industry for many years and was the founder of Rhode Island Junior Reds youth hockey program. After retiring he and his late wife moved to Florida for 27 years. During his retirement he was an avid golfer, enjoyed a good cigar and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a Vietnam Era Army Veteran.
He is survived by two children, son James Anthony Parrillo Jr. and his wife Eva Parrillo, and daughter Lynette Marie (Parrillo) Watler and her husband Danny Watler. He was the proud grandfather to Alexandra Marie Calvacca, Marc Richard DeSourdy Jr., Christina Marie Parrillo, and Sophia Marie Parrillo, and great-grandfather to Henry and Violet Calvacca, and Edward DeSourdy.
His funeral will be from the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence at 10:00 am Thursday May 29th, followed by a Mass of the Repose of the soul at 11:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 179 Academy Avenue, Providence. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Wednesday, May 28th, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
