James Lamount "Jamie" Parson

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day- and not only me, but to all who have longed for his appearing." - II Timothy 4:7-8
On Monday evening, March 24th, 2025, James Lamount Parson, affectionately known as Jamie, entered into the everlasting arms of the Lord.
James was born on June 9th, 1968, in sunny Los Angeles, California. In 1977, his family left Southern California for a new adventure in the majestic state of Alaska. James spent the next few years of his life traveling between Alaska and California, where he made lifelong friends who became family.
James was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. After graduation, he joined the Army and proudly served his country as a communications specialist. He then worked for the State of Alaska for 13 years, where he learned many skills that proved useful as he became a business owner. In the mid-1990s, he answered the call on his life to boldly proclaim God's word from the pulpit. In the mid-2000s, driven by a passion for helping the Anchorage community, he and his wife became foster parents and eventually opened group homes for young men who aged out of the foster care system.
James will always be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, big smile, infectious laugh, and funny jokes.
James was welcomed into heaven by his mother, Katie Marie; sister, Gitanya; great-grandmother, Katie; grandmother, Josephine; mother (aunt), Gladys; bonus mom, Betty; and mother-in-law, Teresa.
Celebrating his love, life, and legacy are his wife of 30 years, Barbara; daughters Jaquisa (Ashten) and Britney; son Deandre; grandson Jaiden; brothers Lance, Chris (Charlene), Jesse (Keta), James (April), Kevin, and Donnell; sisters Pamela (Maureo), Cheryl (Henry), Tracie, Giovanna, Tammie, Lisa, and Annette, along with many other loving family members and friends.
