John Parson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bryant Funeral Home - Great Bend on Feb. 2, 2026.
John Lee Parson, 56, passed away January 30, 2026, at Azria Health, in Great Bend, Kansas. He was born May 22, 1969, in Kingman, to Joe & Shirley (Seyb) Parson, Sr.

John joined Sunflower in 1991. He brought a quiet light into our days. His presence was gentle and peaceful, and he moved through the world with a softness that touched everyone around him. The things that made him happiest were simple and pure – rolling comfortably on his mat, studying his hands with quiet fascination, and enjoying his prune juice as if it were the best part of the day. He reminded us all that joy lives in small moments, in familiar routines, and in feeling safe and cared for. Those who supported him came to understand his expressions and the quiet ways he communicated, and it was a privilege to be part of his life. He was known, he was cared for, and he mattered deeply. His life was meaningful because of who he was – a gentle soul who shared his world in his own beautiful way.

He is survived by brothers, Jason Parson of Topeka, Joe Parson, Jr. of Port St. John, Fla., Tracey Parson of Great Bend; half sister, Barbara Welch of Perryton, Tex.; nieces and nephews, Brooke Kirk, Reese Taylor, Maegan Parson, Bryna Parson, Kyler Parson, Kinsley Parson, Emma Trout, Kelsey Sober, Kaden Purdue; aunts, Nora Parson of Port St. John, Fla., and Patricia Seyb of McKinney, Tex. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation and viewing will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Bryant Funeral Home. Private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials have been designated to Sunflower Diversified Services, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
