David Matthew Duran, age 62, of Sandusky, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026 surrounded by loved ones at United Hospice Services of Aspire Hospital.

He was born on January 31, 1964 in Great Bend, KS to Peter and Corrine (Parras) Duran. David moved around many times over his life eventually graduating from High School in California. While living in Canada, he met Sandra Hunt, they were married on December 2, 1983. David was a mail carrier for 30 years, walking the city route. He was the owner of Duran and Sons Construction and hired many people that were in need of a job. David helped bring the Colleen J. Howe Arena to Sandusky and was a successful hockey coach there for years. He was a family man and 100% by his family's side. David's faith in Jesus Christ influenced everything he did. He would open his home to anyone who needed help. Hockey and Golf were his favorite sports. His team won the championship in Sandusky one year. David was always doing something outside. He especially loved his grandchildren, who returned his love and called him "Little Papa." No one worked harder, played harder or loved harder than he did.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sandra; children, Rosa Duran, Sonya Duran, Joshua Duran, Jonah Duran, Karamia Duran, Pantera Duran and Dominic Duran; grandchildren, Michael Bayle III, Kaden Bayle, Alyxiana Duran, Cortez Martinez, Nevaeh Capozzo, Harper Capozzo, Bellamy West and Colson West; sister, Elizabeth Duran; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
