James "Jimmy" Peele

Archdale – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our father, James "Jimmy" Chester Peele, 84, who passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27th, 2026, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, NC.

He was born on September 4, 1941, in Randolph County, the son of the late Chester and Allie Whitaker Peele. After his family left Surry County, they moved and made their home in Cedar Square, where they farmed, and were active in the Cedar Square Friends Meeting. Jimmy graduated from Trinity High School, and married his sweetheart, Judy. Upon retirement, Jimmy and Judy settled in Trinity, where they attended Thomasville Friends Meeting, and loved hosting family and friends. Up until the end Jimmy maintained his kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of life, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude for his long life, full of wonderful and varied experiences. Though Dad may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of integrity and kindness, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Dad's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, and building homes, often spending his weekends at the hunting lodge. His love for his family was something he shared with his children, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.

Jimmy was preceded in death by both parents; his beloved wife of 57 years, Judy Peele; three sisters, Verna Douglas, Faye Coltrane, Mildred Byrd and his brother, Harold Peele.

Surviving are his daughter, Kelly Peele Smith (Daniel) of Thomasville; son, Scott Peele of High Point; sister, Maxine Cox of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Emily Happel (Brett) of High Point, Hayden Smith of Thomasville; three great-grandchildren; Tanner Smith, Paxton Happel and Finley Happel: and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7th, at Cedar Square Friends Meeting, at 7546 Harlow Rd. High Point, NC 27263 with Rev. Ben Hurley officiating.
