James Wright Pheneger age 83
Beloved Husband of Barbara (nee Veazie). Loving Father of David (Mary), Mark (Debbie), Amy (Brian) and the late "Dan The Man" Pheneger. Dearest Papa of Rachel Krieg (Andy), Joshua, Taylor and Jaimie. Great-Papa of Daxton, Ruthie Mae and Jack. Brother of the following deceased: Shirley, Bill, Pat, Dick, Jack and Barb. Brother in law of Dick (Charlotte) Veazie, deceased, Don (Paula) Veazie and Bruce (Lynne) Veazie. Uncle, Great-Uncle and friend of many.
Mr. Pheneger was a two sport athlete at Marietta College from 1958-1962, earning three varsity letters in basketball and four more in baseball. Born in Newark, Ohio, Jim went on to earn his Masters of Education from Ashland. He spent 40 years as a teacher and basketball coach, including 17 years as the head coach of the Midpark High School men's basketball team. During that time, he won two Greater Cleveland Conference championships. Following his tenure as Midpark's coach, he was an assistant at Baldwin-Wallace for 14 seasons.
Coach Pheneger was loved by everyone who knew him and he loved them back. He was known as a selfless person who loved his family more than anything. He will be dearly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions may be made to Walk to End Alzheimer's So Blessed By Barb.

Funeral services at the funeral home Saturday August 24, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. The family will receive friends Friday, August 23, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the A. Ripepi and Sons Funeral Home 18149 Bagley Rd., Middleburg Hts. (West of I-71).
