James (Jimmy) McLauchlin Phillips, Jr., age 67, of Loganville, Georgia, entered into the
presence of his Savior on September 30, 2024. He was born on March 4, 1957 in Greenville,
South Carolina to James and Janetha Phillips. Jimmy was married to his loving wife, Carmen, for 44 years. One of his heart's desires was to have a family that loves and follows Jesus, and this desire was realized in the lives of his children, Chad and Bethany. Jimmy lived by this mantra, "Stickability is the prerequisite to success." He began working for SBS Associates as an architectural hardware consultant in 1990 and retired in 2022. He was a faithful member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, where he was widely known for his welcoming smile, warm sense of humor, and pockets full of candy. An avid golfer, he was a member of Monroe Country Club, where he played golf weekly with his dear friends. Above all else, Jimmy was a man who loved Jesus and his family. The theme of his favorite music was the gospel, and he enjoyed sharing this love of music with family and friends. In his later years, he cherished his grandchildren. He did not miss a basketball game, a wrestling match, a gymnastic practice, or taste-testing a new cookie recipe. Surviving are his wife, Carmen Phillips; his son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Linda Phillips of Loganville, Georgia; his daughter and son-in-law, Bethany and Luke Mitchell of Lyman, South Carolina; his father and his wife, James and Phyllis Phillips of Taylors, South Carolina; his sister and brother-in-law, Missy and Scott Morphis of Raleigh, North Carolina; and his five grandchildren, Elisabeth Phillips, Judson Phillips, Emily Phillips, Evelyn Phillips, and Archie Mitchell. Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Janetha Phillips. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Tim Stewart Funeral Home in Loganville, Georgia, conducted by Rev. David Shivar. Burial will follow at Corinth Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 on Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.stewartfh.com.
