James Pike Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rose Hill Funeral Home on Feb. 1, 2026.
James (Jim) Winslow Pike, of Cromwell, passed peacefully on January 28, 2026. He was 85 years young. He is survived by his children: Sheri Amato and husband Steven, Danica Levesque and husband Richard, and James Alan Pike and wife Stamatia; his grandchildren: Kristy Kalber (Adam), Nicole Levesque and Katelyn Sosnowich (Jeff); his great-grandchildren: Olivia, Beckham, Delaney, Ella, and Amelia; sister Shirley McCray, brother Paul Wheelock and wife Marcia; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his beloved wife of 69 years, Helen Pauline Pike and his first grandchild Eric Kalber.

Jim was born on March 19, 1940, in St. Stephen New Brunswick. Jim and Helen were married in 1957 and in 1961, Jim and his bride moved their young family to Hartford, CT. Jim was a member of the Grand Masonic Lodge of CT for over 50 years and served 1 year as the Grand Marshall. Jim was employed for 30 years as a crane operator at Standard Structural Steel and 10 years as a truck driver at McKesson Pharmaceutical. Jim was a proud member of First Congregational Church of East Hartford for over 60 years, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was the President of the Iron Workers Local 555.

Jim was known for being a big kid that never grew up. He had a tremendous amount of love and pride for his family and could often be found bragging about his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to cause mischief and was a master at charming his way out of any trouble he would cause. Jim was a die-hard New York Giants and Montreal Canadiens fan and loved to trash talk with fans of other teams (especially Dallas Cowboys fans). Jim will be remembered for his infectious smile and laugh and bringing joy to everybody around him. Jim was adored by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.

Huge thank you to the entire staff at Covenant Living of Cromwell where Jim lived for 10 years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to the CT Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association: 10 Executive Drive Suite 202, Farmington, CT, 06032.

A Calling Hour will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 10 to 11am at the Rose Hill Funeral Home 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill. A Funeral Service will follow at 11am at the funeral home. There will be a private burial in the spring.

With fondness, his name "Jimmy" left one of the best memories of his smiles and compliments and especially his frequent "thank you" in my heart and I am so sorry to only hear about his passing today from a good friend. My heartfelt condolences to Sheri, James and Danica and their families. Sincerely,
Grace Talbot

I am so very sorry to hear about Jim.
I worked with Helen at Fleet Bank, and I will always remember how lovingly she spoke about Jim and their son taking their motorcycle trips to Maine every year. Those stories were filled with joy and pride.
Wishing you comfort, peace, and strength during this difficult time.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Marianne Call

To Jim's Family, I am very sorry for the loss of your dad. I met your dad years ago when I worked for your mom at CBT, back in the 80's. Your dad was an awesome guy. They are together now and are very happy. I am thinking of you all.
