It is with heavy hearts that the family of James Harold Pogorelec, announces his passing on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in Duluth, Minnesota, at age 91. Jim was born on December 26, 1933, to Anton and Frances Pogorelec in Chisholm, Minnesota, the youngest of 13 siblings.
Jim will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 63 years, Dolores, by his daughter, Julie Envall (Ron) of Esko, Minnesota, by sons Ray and Brian of Andover, Minnesota, by his four grandchildren, Grace, Zach, Lindsey and Alyssa, great grandson Callum, and by his many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Agnes Rosso, Mary Winkler and Frances Danko, Margie Nidelkoff, and Dorothy Magajna, brothers William, Frank, Jacob, Tony, Fred, David and Joe, and his granddaughter Kelsi Envall.
Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved polkas and enjoyed summers at his cabin on Island Lake with Dolores and family, and particularly those quiet summer afternoons on the dock in pursuit of walleyes. He was a graduate of Morgan Park High School, and worked on the railroad, and for Interlake Iron, before spending 27 years at I.S.D. 709 until retiring in 1995. He was a long-time member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering at the church with Dolores following his retirement from the Duluth School District.
The family would also like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Inter-Faith Care Center and St. Croix Hospice for their care and compassion.
A private Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Superior, Wisconsin immediately following the service. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, Minnesota. 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805. 218-727-3555.
