Pawleys Island, South Carolina - James Lynn Pomplun, of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, passed away on November 10, 2024, following a brief illness. Jim was born on March 16, 1946 in Denver CO, to the late Ray and Dottie Pomplun. After attending Colorado State University on a swimming scholarship, Jim qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials. Jim started his career in the electrical products industry with Central Electric Supply Company of Denver, CO. He retired from the industry at Marley Engineered Products in Bennettsville, South Carolina. While on a business trip to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1993, he met with a business client, Rodger Kennedy, who introduced Jim to his daughter, Kemilou. They married two years later and eventually settled in The Reserve Golf Club, Pawleys Island, South Carolina, where Kemilou now lives. Jim was a loving father to four beautiful daughters, Jennifer Pomplun (Bruce Gutherie), of Castle Rock, CO, Kimberly Lucas-D'Neuville (Daniel D'Neuville), of Fort Worth, TX, Lori Walters (Brian Walters) of Louisville, OH, and Sheryl (Sheri) Violett (Mike Violett), of Grand Junction, CO. The girls fondly remember "Dad" singing to them in his "Elvis" voice when they were little and being an incredible dancer who "could spin you across a dance floor." Jim's incredible work ethic also instilled in them the desire to work hard. He encouraged them at their swim meets. Jim's love of swimming has been passed down to his grandchildren, and Grandpa Jim's boat tours of the Lowcountry turned into fun lessons on the history of Pawleys Island. His girls blessed him with nine grandchildren, Austin Bannon, Tanner and Skyler Lucas, Justin and Jason Violett, Matthew, Caleb, Hanna (Rhinehart) and Seth Walters; and four great grandchildren, Phoenix Ivy Bannon, Amelia and Oliver Walters, and Anthony Allen. Also surviving are his brother-in-law, Barr Kennedy, sister-in-law, Dolores Kennedy, both of Charlotte; and their daughter, Grace, of Brooklyn, NY. Jim was an avid golfer and volunteered with The Wounded Warrior Project and The Kaminski House Museum in Georgetown. He enjoyed sharing stories (and cocktails) with friends at Perrone's, Bistro 217 and Frank's, where his infectious laugh will be missed. Jim shared a love of traveling the world with Kemilou, and they enjoyed wonderful cruises over the last few years.

A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at The Reserve on Saturday, November 16th, from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Kaminski House at kaminskihouse.org or Good Friends of Georgetown County at goodfriendsofgeorgetowncounty.org.
