Anna M. Hudak, 84, of
Pawleys Island, South Carolina-formerly of Yonkers and Wappingers Falls, New York-passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in
Yonkers, NY, Anna was the daughter of Joseph and Anna Gondek. She graduated from the Yonkers High School of Commerce and continued her education at both Dutchess Community College and Vassar College, nurturing a lifelong love of learning and curiosity about the world.
Anna was a gentle, compassionate, and endlessly kind presence-a loving, vibrant, and radiant light whose energy, warmth, and enthusiasm drew people in. She carried an innate curiosity, a genuine interest in others, and a deep appreciation for beauty, color, and the natural world. Sweet, friendly, caring, and sociable, she filled her life with movement and joy: golfing, traveling, playing cards and mahjong, walking, and expressing her creativity through fashion and design.
She was a former member of the Red Hat Society and gave generously of her time to the community she loved. A giving and outgoing spirit, she volunteered with the South Carolina United Turtle Enthusiasts (S.C.U.T.E.), Brookgreen Gardens, served as a Georgetown County poll worker, and contributed her talents to the Swamp Fox Players, Theatre of the Republic, and the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce. Wherever she went, Anna brought enthusiasm, kindness, and a spirit of service.
Anna is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard M. Hudak Sr.; her children Richard Hudak; Bernadette (Hudak) Gaudio; Veronica Hudak and her partner Paul Orofino; and Christopher Hudak. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Brendan (Dani) Hudak, Ani Hudak, and Robert Gaudio; her nephew Chad Leczinski, his wife Maggie, and their sons Julian and Benicio; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews; and numerous friends-all who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Francis Celona, Joseph Gondek, and Jane Leczinski, as well as her son-in-law Richard Gaudio, and her grandson Andrew Gaudio.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare professionals who cared for Anna with skill, compassion, and respect.
